"Holidaymakers had to be evacuated from a beach after a live WWII bomb was found in the sand, just a few feet away from dozens of beachgoers.
Witnesses watched on as bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion of the grenade, creating a sand storm as smoke, sand and debris flew 80ft into the air.
The explosive was discovered in the sand by a local man who was walking along the beach at Paignton, Devon, with his metal detector on Tuesday morning."
