I started the day off in my normal sle made coin program, hunted around a bit, found a wheat or two and some deep memorials. I was then surprised to score a sweet '54 Rosie not far from where I found one the day before.
After a few more clad finds I called time and went and enjoyed a burger and dog, hit up the pool, and take some pics of the birds flying around riverside today.
I brought my machine out back. where I never find anything due to a foot or more of fill dirt that is everywhere, but decided to crank up the preamp to 4, and I hit a few memorials like this. Then I got to thinking, maybe it'll help me out front too
Sure enough, with the preamp up, I was getting an extra inch or two in depth, or so it seemed. My first score was a nice deep '53 Quarter. The signal was real nice, and with the depth I really had my fingers crossed. I headed back up the driveway and not a foot from where I had dug the previous day (I could tell 'cuz some dirt was outside the plug) I got another sweet sounding hit. BAM, another '54 Rosie
Just another great day at this site. 18 coins @ $1.05 3 silvers and 4 wheats.
I packed up the equipment, loaded up some burgers to grille and headed out. Everyone was hungry so you know food came first. The bacon double cheeseburgers I grilled up masterfully we're amazing.
Next up was metal detecting time. There is a small tree in the front yard that was sporting a little bit of shade, so I put all my stuff there to keep it close if I needed it. About 6 feet towards the house from the tree I got my first signal. And it was a good one. The same one I have come to know recently as the XLT "silver sound." Sure enough, about 5" down, my first dig was a '51` Rosie! I really wanted to take a pic of the hunt in progress, but though I had my camera, the SD card I left in the PC at home, so no dice.
My next 4 signals were all deep wheats. It's really amazing how they just keep coming up. Each time I hunt here I think I have found everything, then the next time I just find more.
I had accumulated about a dozen coins when I was about to call it a day, it was freakin' hot out. Just doing some casual swinging I heard a nice high pitched tone in my ears. I look down and don't see anything on the screen. I take a step back and give it a swing and hear it again, this time with a +81 showing up. It would only hit in one direction, but I decided to give the signal a shot. A +81 at around 7" could be promising. After a bit of diggin, and chasing the signal around a bit... there it was... a '43 Merc. A complete surprise for this yard.
After sweating for nearly an hour it was pool time. The perfect way to cool day and relax!

We had gotten free tix from Ash's sister for a game on the 2nd, so earlier in the day I went and exchanged the great box seats they were for, to get a couple reserved seats in the corner down the 1st base line where Holly and her dad Jeff Rowland were sitting.
Holly is all about her some Chad Moeller, so I got plenty of high rez pics for her. The first pitch was thrown out by the WAVY 10 lead weather man Don Slater. He flew in on the WAVY 10 Chopper, great use of resources there.
The game went well, we left in the top of the 7th with the tides up 3-1. They ended up winning 4-1, with the pitcher, Jake Arrieta getting his first AAA win. Enjoy all the pics!
After all was said and done, I came across 2 BICEN Quarters I didn't know I had, as well as 3 '65 Quarters and 2 '65 Dimes. So close to silver... yet so very, very far away. No silver eggs this time around.

I found this to be yet again another opportunity for my self tuned XLT program to work it's magic, and it didn't dissapoint. My first 5 solid signals were all wheats at about 5"... good day already
I did start in the front yard where my X30 had trouble with the power lines, unfortunately, the XLT was even worse and I couldn't land a diggable signal to save my life. So I headed around the side towards the back. On the side, about 3 feet from the gate I started hitting signals. The first was a 3 wheat spill, about 2 feet to the side of that was my first merc for the day, a '43.
After about half an hour, possibly even less I get word from the lil one that she has to go to the bathroom Of course she does, darned little kid bladders. I don't have keys to the place, so it's not like she can go there. I had just hit a signal and told her if it was a silver dime like I thought it was, we'd leave... lucky her Nice '41 Merc popped out.
The short day was great though, 15 coins @ $0.42, but with 6 wheats and 2 mercs, great hunt in my book. And only 2 trash finds, a lead fishing weight and a small washer. Now I just need to get back over there to get the other half of the yard before I go back out on the boat next week.
UPDATE
So being that my hunt was cut super short by having to leave so the lil one could pee, I couldn't wait until tomorrow to get back. At about 9p tonight I drove back out there, it was killing me.
I got right back to where I stopped and quicky landed a wheat, a few steps later, only a few feet from one of the mercs I found earlier in the day, I got that tell all signal right around 5", BAM, '24 merc sitting perty, though very worn
I was hoping to land at least one more, but no luck. Did score a second wheat, and then a '47 Nickel about in the same spot I had found a '49 and '43-P nickel on my hunt here a few months back.
Glad I made it back out, 9 coins @ $0.31... but with silver and 2 wheats who can complain!
Well long story short, it wasn't. I knew it would be trashy, but sheesh. I couldn't land a solid signal that wasn't trash. I kicked myself for forgetting the Blue Max DD at home, 'cuz it might have made the area a little more tolerable... but the 950 just couldn't cope. I gave up after maybe 15 minutes.
The site is a grassy area between a couple brick buildings that operate as a church, and an auto repair complex. The land is owned by my g/f's uncle, so I had free reign. The larger building used to be a construction/roofing business years and years ago. Now my g/f's dad fixes up and restores cars out of it.
Being that I was skunked, I figured I'd take you on a brief visual strole around. Enjoy.
After all that I just HAD to stop by double-D for 32oz of liquid heaven, French Vanilla Iced Coffee Extra-Light and Extra-Sweet.
Pulling in to the parking lot I could already see dark clouds in the distance that didn't look to friendly. I don't remember rain in the forecast, but kept the view under advisement. With a few minutes I could hear thunder in the distance and see an occasional flash of lightning.
With a light drizzle coming down, and the XLT starting to give a reaction to the lightning I stuck it out for an hour, give or take a few minutes. I was happy to find the coins I did, glad the spot is still givin' up the dimes and quarters
It was pleasant to pull a '49 wheatie, the second I've wrangled from the field. I also pulled a just shy of quarter size metal disc that is very smooth on both sides, and one edge is rounded. In the pic you'll see that on the edge, it looks like it twisted off something, so it's probably a punchout.
27 coins total @ $2.10.
Made it home to count the loot and enjoy a BL Lime on the patio.
